I was inspired by a post from hesaidandshesaid (http://hesaidandshesaid.wordpress.com/2010/04/22/she-said-the-1990s/) but I wanted to go through the recently passed decade and reflect on some important events that happened in the CityGuy’s life.
– First full year at Westside, first Homecoming dance (technically 1999, but its implications carry over.) first time I danced with a girl in some way OTHER than guy’s hands on girl’s hips, elbows locked so the other person is as far away as possible while still maintaining physical contact. Funny how that situation usually involves the only contact being physical. Either one of the people involved is too much in their own head to be mentally engaged or they are actively avoiding contact. I should write a more detailed post about this…
– Stanley Kubrick was wrong about the whole space odyssey thing. Sept 11 is the most memorable thing I can remember, the first time I considered joining the military. Ooh, also the first time I went to any nightclub. Teen night. I’d compete with my friends to see who could get the most phone numbers. I should probably write a more detailed post about this…
– My family moved but I was still able to stay in my high school. it was my senior year, and I turned 18, so I went clubbing some on my own to regular nights. bought my first beer from a bar. I should definitely write a post about this…
– graduated from High School. Went to the Military school. I could do so many posts on this year alone.
– First time I field-stripped an M-16 service rifle, an air-cooled, magazine fed, gas-powered sub-machine gun. full firing weight is 8.50 pounds, a full 1.4 lbs lighter than the M14, which I drilled with at school.
– Left NGCSU after deciding that I wanted to pursue a career in Marketing, not the military. Went to Macon State to finish my core classes. Met Joey Roberts, we were friends at first conversation. Also this is the year I moderated an online forum about cars and girls, http://www.tunerchic.com
–
–
– Came back to Macon State,
–
– Graduated from College… Finally!
(update from 2020): I really should find more detailed things to write and fill in. I had so many shenanigans to fill in.
