Formula D 2011

I know I’m a little late on posting this, but things around the home front have been a little hecktic. That being said Formula D Round 2, Atlanta, was a BLAST!  I’ve got a couple videos to share right now and many more to come soon.

The event began several days before I arrived with setup and practice the Thursday before, but I was able to detach myself from all my distractions to make it to the Friday practice runs and Saturday’s main event. When I arrived Friday the pits were already buzzing with activity. Drivers were signing autographs, NOS models were handing out enough caffeine to keep a legion of avid drift enthusiasts  awake for the weekend, and the tire sponsors were handing out the used, discarded hulks of rubber that were left after each round of turning $400 tires into smoke and testosterone. I still have one of these discarded hulks in the back of my truck, I have no idea what to do with it. Possibly the most fun activity of the afternoon was in the huge space that Dodge had walled off with water-filled barriers, doing a little tire scorching of their own. For no cost (except the time it took to fill out a waiver and stand in line) you could ride along in one of the new 392 Dodge Challengers. These things were sweet!  For your viewing pleasure, May I present The Ride-Along:

As you can guess, the drifting experience in a big Domestic Muscle Car is pretty awesome.

Here’s some footage of another few rides and some of the pro’s I’ll be highlighting in my next post!
